Penetrative sexual assault
(rape-like offences)

Sexual assault (non-penetrative physical abuse)

Gender-neutral law :
Protects *both boys and girls*
Statement recorded in a safe environment (often at home)
No aggressive questioning
Identity of the child kept confidential
Trials conducted in special courts
Any person (including teachers, doctors, or relatives) *must report* suspected child abuse
Failure to report is a punishable offence
Cases are handled in fast-track courts for quicker justice
In certain cases, the accused must prove innocence (stronger protection for children)
Severe penalties including
long-term imprisonment*
In aggravated cases,
punishment can extend to *life imprisonment or even death penalty* (after amendments)
